Deadline 13 January 2025The programme is aimed at school leavers, with the next intake joining our London office in September 2025. We recruit in Bristol and London in alternate years and so the following intake will join our Bristol office in September 2026.The six-year programme combines learning and study to help our apprentices develop key skills whilst growing their legal knowledge. Apprentices spend one day a week studying with The University of Law towards a law degree and the solicitors qualifying exams. All university and exams fees are paid for by the firm and you will earn a salary throughout the programme.&nbsp;The first year is spent within our legal matter support team, followed by three 12-month placements within different legal teams before joining the training contract rotation for the final two years. You will gain an LLB (Hons) in Legal Practice from The University of Law and at the end of the programme you will qualify as a solicitor. All of your tuition fees will be paid and best of all, you will earn a salary whilst you are training and gaining your qualification.You will be based in our London office, working alongside leading lawyers across our six departments (Corporate; Dispute Resolution; Employment; Innovation; Private; and Real Estate). During the first four years you will complete four annual rotations and in the final two years you will join the graduate trainees and complete four six-month rotations. Throughout the six years you will be working for four days per week and spend one day studying with The University of Law.Qualification This apprenticeship will take six years to complete, however after four years you will have obtained an LLB. Alongside studying part-time with The University of Law one day a week, you will gain hands-on experience of a wide range of legal work. This qualification cleverly combines the legal knowledge required for a new entrant into the legal profession with the more technical demands expected of a junior lawyer.The programme is structured around the level 7 solicitor apprenticeship, which includes an LLB (Hons) degree and solicitors qualifying exams. It takes approximately six years to complete and all study fees will be funded by the firm.We will invest the time and resources into ensuring our apprentices are fully equipped with the tools for success in the legal sector. In return, we expect commitment, motivation and a genuine interest in helping our clients. Solicitor Apprenticeship (school leaver) - September 2025 - Ashurst

Within this position you will be providing support to both commercial contracts and data protection (including freedom of information requests) teams.&nbsp; You will also be required to provide general administrative support to the team that may include carrying out research and reviewing legal documents and forms under supervision.&nbsp; We will consider applications for employment on a part-time or other flexible working basis, even where a position is advertised as full-time, unless there are operational or other objective reasons why it is not possible to do so. &nbsp;Overview of role<ul><li>To provide clerical support to the Legal and Compliance Services team</li><li>To provide contract administration support, being responsible for co-ordinating all contracts which come through the team, to include logging, triaging, filing and managing the contract approvals and sign-off process.</li><li>To contribute to the overall efficient and effective operation of the data protection team through ensuring University compliance with information law requirements.</li><li>A willingness to undertake legal training as an apprentice. To include:<ul><li>Designing and running an efficient contract administration process for high volume of contracts (c.80 new instructions per month).</li><li>Logging all new instructions into the department.</li><li>Triaging contracts to the rest of the team so that they are dealt with by the most appropriate person.</li><li>Overseeing non-research contract approvals for all contracts and obtaining all approvals under the University’s Financial Procedures, including obtaining final signature.</li><li>Closing, scanning and filing of completed contracts, including maintaining the contracts archive.</li><li>Administering and maintaining the Legal and Compliance Services contracts database, including running monthly reports.</li></ul>Information Governance • Assist with all requests by individuals to exercise rights relating to the General Data Protection Regulation to agreed deadlines, and all related legislation to agreed deadlines • Assist with requests under the Freedom of Information Act. • Support the Data Protection team (DP) department in meeting the University’s compliance obligations.BenefitsSalary of £26,038 - £29,659 per annum.
