Your first step towards a successful career in law

We believe that work experience is in an important step for undergraduates seeking to become solicitors.  It provides undergraduates with the opportunity to experience life as a solicitor and to try their hand at completing exercises based on real cases to get a true feel for the work types we offer.  It is also a great opportunity to learn more about SJP Law, and of course, it is also your chance to show us what you have to offer our firm.

We are now offering flexible work experience opportunities, which will replace the traditional Summer Vacation Scheme.

You can apply for work experience throughout the year and successful candidates will be offered a bespoke work experience placement at a mutually convenient time.  Wherever possible, placements will involve physical time in our office, spending time with our Trainees, Solicitors and Directors, but virtual placements will also be considered.

Real experience

Over the course of your placement, you will cover three different seats, in compensation, commercial and property, alongside an introduction to IT – providing you with experience working in different departments.

During your time with us, you will get an authentic insight into what life is really like as a solicitor at a top independent law firm. It is a real opportunity for you to see whether a career as a solicitor is right for you, and whether you have got the necessary skills to thrive in a competitive, fast-moving industry.

Successful candidates

Our work experience programme is designed for UK university students reading Law, and those studying allied arts subjects looking to undertake a Law conversion course in the future.

We value candidates who successfully balance professionalism with communication, collaboration, and team spirit. Successful applicants will also be high achievers with outstanding academics, be committed to working hard, and have a genuine interest in pursuing a future career as a solicitor at our firm.
