Deadline: 13 May 2025

This September we are looking to take on two Paralegals whom we intend to train to become qualified solicitors. We’re looking for candidates with 2:2 or above law degrees who have not yet started or commenced/completed either the LPC or SQE1 qualification. We work closely with our communities, so those candidates with strong links to any of the locations of our offices, are preferred.

The ideal applicants will have good interpersonal skills and be able to demonstrate a real enthusiasm for a career in law. If successful in the paralegal role, you will be offered the opportunity to complete a period of qualifying experience (either by way of a Period of Recognised Training or Qualifying Work Experience, depending on the route to qualification).

We are a long established, yet forward-thinking law firm based in beautiful East Sussex. We have offices (mostly a stone’s throw from the beach) and close to mainline stations in Hastings, Eastbourne, Battle, Bexhill, and Rye, employing over 100 staff. We are proud to offer a good work-life balance and a relaxed and friendly working environment. We take pride in embracing equality and diversity amongst our workforce.

We have an excellent track record of developing trainee solicitors, by providing valuable experience with mentoring in Residential Property, Corporate and Commercial, Court of Protection and Vulnerable Clients, Wills, Trusts and Probate, Dispute Resolution and Family Law.

There are always post qualification opportunities within our growing firm, and we love to see our trainees progressing to permanent positions within the firm, post qualification. For example, our most recently promoted Partner, Beth Reid, started with the firm as a Paralegal!

If you’re wondering what it is like to be a trainee with us here are some of the words our recent trainees used to describe their experience:

  • “Varied”,
  • “Informative”
  • “Comprehensive”
  • “Purposeful”
  • “Engaging”
  • “Supportive”
  • “Stimulating”
  • “Teamwork”

..... not bad, we'll take that!

If you are interested in applying, please email your CV together with a covering letter, explaining your reasons for applying and any connection that you have to the locations of our offices. The closing date for applications is 13th May 2025.

Please use the Subject Reference – Paralegal to Trainee Solicitor 2025.

All shortlisted applicants will need to be available to attend a one-day assessment interview with other selected candidates on 4th June 2025, at a central Hastings location.

(Please note we regret that due to the volume of applications expected we will not necessarily be able to acknowledge all that our not shortlisted.)
