The Legal Internship Role

This is a rare and exciting opportunity for a prospective lawyer in the UK to gain hands-on, in-house legal experience within a dynamic multinational software company. Unlike traditional legal internships, this role offers exposure to a broad spectrum of legal work, from drafting and negotiating contracts to assisting with vendor, customer, and partner transactions, as well as intellectual property (IP) matters. You’ll have the chance to work closely with a small, supportive, and friendly team of experienced lawyers, providing an unparalleled opportunity to develop the practical skills and commercial awareness that are highly valued in today’s legal market.

You will be involved in a broad spectrum of legal work, including but not limited to:

  • Drafting and negotiating simple contractual documents such as Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs), vendor agreements, and Request for Proposals (RFPs).
  • Assisting with vendor, customer, and partner transactions to support business operations.
  • Conducting legal research and helping the team with various projects.
  • Supporting Intellectual Property (IP) matters.

This role will provide a comprehensive insight into the workings of an in-house legal department within a global software company.

Here’s how you’ll be making an impact:

  • Drafting and Negotiation: Prepare and review straightforward contracts and agreements, ensuring compliance with company policies and applicable laws.
  • Research & Analysis: Perform legal research and provide summaries or reports to support decision-making within the legal team.
  • Transaction Support: Collaborate with team members to assist with vendor, customer, and partner transactions.
  • Project Assistance: Participate in various legal and compliance projects, providing practical input and organizational support.
  • IP Assistance: Support intellectual property matters, such as trademark reviews and patent-related inquiries.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Basic understanding of contract law and commercial transactions is an advantage.
