Our client is an award-winning actuarial and analytics consultancy providing market-leading capabilities and advice across pensions and financial services, energy, health and analytics. This role can be based in the London W1, office or in the Hampshire office. The role offers a diverse workload and excellent work-life balance. The role offers hybrid working, 40% in-office requirement (2 days per week) to include attendance on set team days.
We are recruiting for our client on an exclusive basis for an experienced Paralegal or Legal Executive to join their well regarded and friendly in-house legal team. You will report to the General Counsel and will be expected to provide high-quality legal advice to the business, and administrative and technical support to the team. This role is ideal if you are aiming to build a long-term career as a Paralegal or Legal Executive, rather than pursuing qualification as a solicitor. Please note this role will not lead to a training contract.
You must have several years of experience reviewing commercial contracts, and either practical experience in data protection or a keen interest in developing expertise in this area. They will require you to have excellent communication, organisation and technical skills, to be able to maintain a high standard of professionalism and to have a strong can-do attitude.
What will you be doing?
  • Drafting, reviewing and negotiating contracts with suppliers, including for events, software, professional services and consultancy, and facilities services. This requires a sound knowledge of data protection requirements.
  • Taking the lead in the maintenance and development of our supplier onboarding process.
  • Assisting the team with the review and negotiation of contracts with clients, including non-disclosure agreements and terms of service with clients.
  • Providing tender support by answering queries from prospects on the Firms policies and processes that are within the remit of the Legal team.
  • Assisting with drafting, updating, and maintaining internal policies and procedures.
  • Contributing to the development and maintenance of internal legal policies and procedures, template development and process improvement, identifying and resolving opportunities to create efficiencies. This includes maintaining the Legal teams intranet pages on sharepoint, maintaining databases and updating workflows in Microsoft forms or in any replacement system.
  • Assisting with data protection compliance matters, including data protection impact assessments, privacy policies and documentation for clients on the Firms compliance with data protection law.
  • Conducting legal research to share knowledge with, and contribute to the development of, the team.
  • Assisting with implementing and managing legal technology solutions.
  • Assisting with research and drafting of minutes and documentation for group companies.
What qualifications, experience and skills will make you an excellent candidate?
  • Qualifying UK law degree or equivalent (GDL/CPE) (other suitable jurisdictions, primarily Australia, New Zealand and Ireland, may be considered)
  • Several years of experience in general commercial legal matters, including drafting, reviewing and negotiating contracts
