We offer up to 16 places on our Summer Vacation Scheme which takes place throughout June - July and have 3 training contract vacancies for 2026.

At present, we recruit all our trainees from participants in our Summer Vacation Scheme.

Kick start your legal career at Marriott Harrison, where you will be provided with the space to thrive, connect and succeed. You will become part of the team from day one and learn from the very best in the business.

Given the firm’s size and structure, it’s important that you are a team player who likes being a part of and collaborating, in a team. Our people are key to our business and while we have different specialities across the firm, we all work towards a common goal - making positive contributions to our clients’ and the firm’s business and culture.

We want you to grow and develop. Because you will start on real-life work from day one, we understand you will make mistakes, but you won’t be working alone and we see mistakes as opportunities for you to learn and develop. We will provide you with the tools, skills and experiences you need to become an excellent lawyer. In exchange, we look to our people to help our clients realise their ambitions to grow successful businesses.

We actively seek and have built a team that brings a diversity of perspective. With wide and varied interests, they all share some key characteristics, which we also seek in you:

  • Driven with a strong academic background (2:1 degree or above)
  • Self-motivated, and responsibility for outcomes
  • Focused on client service and delivery
  • Collaborative and active team player
  • Curious and always wanting to learn more
  • An international outlook

We will support you to complete your Professional Skills Course during your training contract and encourage you through ample opportunity to attend seminars, presentations and client relationship-building events all of which will widen and deepen your personal and professional development.

You will have the full support of colleagues all across the firm, both formally and informally, to encourage and develop you in a wide variety of legal, social and client development.

Applying

Before hitting that all important ‘submit’ button, we have outlined a few tips and tricks below to help set you up for success in your application:

  • Double-check your application for errors and that you have completed each section fully.
  • Research the firm and know why you want to be a part of our team and how it aligns with what you are looking for.
  • Using AI is useful to get some tips for how you might answer each question, but do not copy and paste, it is easy to tell and will likely result in an unsuccessful application.
  • Think about ways in which you can distinguish yourself from other applicants. We see hundreds of applications so think about how you and your experience can set you apart.

Our process for reviewing applications and offering a Summer Vacation Scheme is fairly easy. Once the deadline hits, CVs are reviewed blindly (to assist with removing any unconscious bias) by our core recruitment group. Once applications have closed, we prepare a shortlist. If you are shortlisted, you will be invited to our Assessment Centre which will take place on 19 - 20 March 2025. Following on from the Assessment Centre, candidates will be informed of the outcome towards the end of March.

A few final points that are worth noting:

We want to set you up for success throughout the recruitment process. If you have particular special circumstances that you would like us to take into consideration, please let us know on your application form, we are more than happy to accommodate your needs.

Candidates participating in the Scheme will be paid £450 for the week. Travel costs will not be covered.

Marriott Harrison has historically paid the LPC and SQE fees of successful applicants who are yet to start the LPC or SQE at the time they accept their offer.

We only accept applications from candidates who will be in a position to commence a training contract in 2026.

The trainee salary in 2026 will be £40,000 for the first year and £42,000 for the second year.

If you are unsuccessful in your application and are not invited to the Assessment Centre, we unfortunately are unable to provide feedback or references due to the volume of applications we receive
