Applications for 2027 are OPEN

Gosschalks has an extremely successful graduate training programme. No fewer than 28 of our current team of lawyers began life at Gosschalks as a trainee, 16 of whom are now partners. With the firm growing year on year, we’re always looking for future solicitors, partners and leaders to join us. As the firm continues to expand we are intending to recruit 3 new trainee solicitors to start in September 2027.

Our initial selection criteria requires applicants to have achieved at least three A to C grades at A-Level or equivalent and to have achieved or be predicted at least a 2:1 in their degree. In exceptional circumstances and for applicants who have come late to the law, we will consider applicants whose grades do not meet the criteria.

We currently offer two routes to qualify as a solicitor, the LPC route or the SQE route. If you are unsure which route to follow, Richard Taylor the firm’s Training Principal answers some frequently asked questions in his Blog - see our website via Apply.

Any offer of a training contract if following the traditional LPC route will be conditional on you passing all heads of the Legal Practice Course prior to 1st September 2027*.

If you have chosen to follow the SQE route, you must pass SQE1 before your Qualifying Work Experience can commence.  It is expected that you will complete your 2 years Qualifying Work Experience with us.  Any previous work experience would only be accepted at our discretion*.

* Please note: Our Period of Recognised Training is for a 2 year fixed period whether training with us to qualify through the LPC or the SQE route.

If you are still hungry for more information at this stage, take a look at our handy guide to life at Gosschalks as a Trainee Solicitor to give you a greater insight into the opportunities that Gosschalks has in store for the right people.

We plan to conduct interviews in September 2025.

Please note: Gosschalks subscribes to the Voluntary Code to Good Practice in the Recruitment of Trainee Solicitors. If you require reasonable adjustments to be made during the recruitment process, please get in touch.
