Sinclair Gibson LLP is a boutique firm located in the heart of London’s legal centre which specialises in advising high net worth clients in connection with international and domestic tax and trust law matters, trust and probate litigation, and family law. The firm has nine partners who are supported by a team of highly experienced solicitors and administrative staff.

Several of the partners are known as leaders in their fields and the firm itself has an excellent reputation for the quality of its work and dedicated service to clients over many years.

The firm generally seeks to recruit between two and four trainees to join our team each September.

What we offer trainees

We offer a high standard of training to individuals committed to a career in private client law. The training is split into four distinct seats ensuring six months in each of our three core practice areas: private client, litigation, and family.

During each seat, you will sit in an office with either a partner or a senior associate who will supervise your work and guide your training. You will be expected to get involved in every aspect of the department’s work and as a result will have the opportunity to undertake a broad range of matters. You will also be exposed directly both to clients and other professionals that solicitors interact with on a regular basis, for example by attending consultations with Counsel, Court hearings and meeting with trustees and accountants. You will be supported throughout each of your seats and will receive regular feedback on your work to support your development.

What we look for

We encourage you to apply for our training programme at the start of your final year of university (or start of the GDL year) but equally take applications from candidates studying for the LPC/SQE and those who have completed their studies.

The work we do can often be challenging and so we look for candidates who have excellent academic results and have shown consistency in their achievements. In addition, we particularly seek out candidates who exhibit natural intelligence, flair, and imagination, and who can readily demonstrate the potential to become excellent solicitors.

Salary and benefits

First year trainees are currently paid £43,250 per annum, rising to £45,500 in the second year. Salaries are reviewed in May each year.

We offer trainees an excellent benefits package which includes life insurance, permanent health insurance and private health insurance, enhanced pension contributions and interest free travel loans.

How to apply

We are currently looking to recruit two trainees to start in September 2026. If you wish to be considered for training at Sinclair Gibson LLP, please submit your CV along with a covering letter explaining your suitability for the role by email to recruitment@sinclairgibson.com by 30 September 2024.
