Application deadline: 31 October 2024

We usually take on two trainees each year, one in March and one in September, and we are able to offer LPC graduate opportunities as well as the new SQE training programme for law degree/GDL graduates.  Our LPC programme is a four-seat training contract over 24 months and the SQE apprenticeship is a five-seat training program over 30 months.

We interview on a bi-annual basis.

If you application is successful, you will spend at least six months each in the Business, Commercial Property and Dispute Resolution Departments in our Manchester office. You are also likely to do some work with one or more of our specialist legal teams, such as Employment, Professional or Clinical Negligence, Family, Probate or Residential Conveyancing, and may have a formal seat in one or more of these departments.  We reserve the right to place you in our Glossop office, but this usually only happens at a trainee’s request.

What to expect

We have a friendly and collaborative culture, balancing early responsibility with an open-door policy.  Trainees are encouraged to have direct contact with clients from the outset. We also encourage you to get involved in the Manchester Trainee Solicitor’s Group and participate in their organised events with your peers.  You can also join our Social Committee which organises regular events such as bowling, sports and theatre trips for all staff.

We are an equal opportunities employer and have a diverse team. Our working culture is friendly and inclusive.  We are hardworking but fair, and whilst we don’t have a 9 to 5 mentality when attending to client business, trainees are not expected to work late nights or weekends.

We genuinely value our trainees and perhaps the most important measure of this is that the majority of our partners trained with the firm.

Interviews for the training contract positions available in September 2025, March 2026 and September 2026 will take place early in 2025.

Applications are welcome from candidates seeking either the LPC or SQE route, with the deadline being 31st October 2024.
